Jan Holman - Qualifications
Background
I was born in 1960 and am married to Pete, a builder, and have 2 sons, now adults. I used to work shift in a highly stressful IT job and suffered from all the negative things a desk bound job inflicts upon us, aching tense shoulders, lower back ache, pain between the shoulder blades and so on. Around 1998 my husband was also suffering from a bulging disc in his lower lumbar and we both decided to attend a short 'Massage for Relaxation' evening course to see if it would help with the aches and pains.
I was so impressed with the results that I decided to follow it up and learn Massage properly and completed my I.T.E.C. Anatomy, Physiology & Massage course in 2000, then I went on to do Aromatherapy in 2001 and On-site Massage and Stress Management in 2002.
During this time I became interested in the general healing process and became a Reiki 1 practitioner to further my abilities to help others. In 2004 I qualified as a Baby Massage Instructor and later that year was (very conveniently) made redundant and given the chance to widen my horizons and use my gained skills (and redundancy money!) to help others and set up Rest & Repair Bodycare & Babycare.
I have created a relaxing, stress free environment for my therapy room, using neutral colours, aromatherapy oils and comfortable seating for up to 4 people so you could always bring a friend. There is a private changing area with storage for your clothes and valuables within the therapy room.
I have also written for Healthy Life Magazine on the topic of Baby Massage. A copy of the article can be found here.
